The Rapture Sculpture

Symbolism

The figure you see with her feet rising above the clouds at the very moment of the rapture (1 Thes. 4:16,17), represents the Church.

She symbolizes the “Bride of Christ”. (Rev. 19:7) The bride is clothed in the garments of salvation, “fine white linen” which is symbolic of being "born again" (John 3:3); the bride is also arrayed in a “robe of righteousness” which is symbolic of being "filled with the Spirit."(John 3:5)

"For God hath clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness." (Isaiah. 61:10; 49:18)

Her long flowing hair, ablaze in the wind, represents the Glory of God upon His bride (1 Cor. 11:15).

The billowing full shoulders symbolize the abundant Grace of God; the upper cape symbolizes His covering of Truth; the lower cape symbolizes His covering of Justice.

Her hands are poised in reverence and adoration for the Lamb of God -- our Bridegroom.

Emerging from the folds of the robe, symbolically showing they are "in" Christ, are seven human figures representing His Church. Their names are Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea. (Rev. Ch. 2 & 3)

They also represent the seven letters to the churches of Asia and remind us of the warnings and conditions given by Jesus to “overcome” -- to overcome the flesh and be ready as His "bride" when He returns.

The male and female figures which appear in the upper portion of the robe have their eyes closed; they symbolize the "dead in Christ" who will rise first.

The figures in the lower portion have their eyes open; they symbolize those in Christ who will "still be alive" when the trumpet sounds and the Lord comes for His bride. (1 Thes. 4:16) They represent those who are “looking for His coming!” (Hebrews 9:28)

A brooch and sash secure the robe to the bride. On the face of the brooch is embossed the cross of Calvary, the Cross of our salvation.

At the base of the cross appears a crest of olive leaves symbolizing Christ's victory over sin, Satan and death, His eternal peace and the union of Jew and Gentile.

Upon the cross rests an image of a dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, our “Teacher and Comforter”… and finally, engraved down the length of the sash are the words of our Lord: "I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end.” (Rev. 22:13)

The Rapture Is Our Glorious Rescue From The Great Tribulation

What is the rapture? The word “rapture” is actually the English word derived from the Latin word “rapido,” which means to be “caught up.” It is the translation made from the original verb “harpazo” found in the Greek manuscripts.

“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, and with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” (I Thessalonians 4:16, 17)

We will be “caught up in the clouds” or raptured at the sound of the trumpet. It is nearly impossible for our natural minds to comprehend such an extraordinary event, but as surely as the Lord lives, it shall happen. You must see it and believe it in your spirit. Beloved, if the Word of God says it, then the Father shall perform it.

Noah was a preacher of righteousness. He warned of the impending judgment of God. He shared the truth and prepared his loved ones. Learn from the life of Noah. You are the “good man” of your house, the “watchman” for your family. Share the knowledge of the Holy Spirit and His infilling power. It is His infilling power that empowers a believer unto righteousness. You are the Noah of this generation. God’s judgment is coming upon the whole earth, upon all who are not prepared. It is your vital walk of obedience to share this truth regardless of the consequences. It is for you to share with your family, your loved ones. You are the “good man” of your house.

THE SCRIPTURE IN THE ART

The Coming of the Lord

“According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ will rise first.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4: 15-18)

The Bride of Christ

“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For the Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.’ Then the angel said to me, ‘Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb. ” (Revelation 19:6-9)

About The Rapture

By David Magiera

“This labor-of-love began as an “open-eyed” vision in the summer of 1992. Immediately, the Lord impressed upon me that what I saw was to be express in the form of a sculpture. This work of art has been an evolutionary creation. It has taken more than a decade to refine and bring to completion. To God be the glory! - DM
